Merry Christmas!

Posted in Daily Post with tags on December 12, 2009 by acesouthpaw8

Sorry for the long hiatus from the blog, but I was engaged in finals week and moving out from my dorm. I am presently enjoying the lush San Diego climate and all that California can offer…mainly, rest. It’s good to be here and see my aunt and uncle for a while, as I have little oppertunity to do so. It’s always fun, and I always enjoy my stay.

I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and rest assured I am in the Christmas spirit! Carols, presents, santa, everything has me thinking Christmasy thoughts. I would like to say, however, that I do believe in saying Merry Christmas and not “Happy Holidays”, or “Merry X-mas”. I understand the ideas behind those phrases and their meaning, but unless someone is of a different faith (in which case they can wish people a Happy Hanukkah) I believe the greeting should stand as Merry Christmas. All arguments aside, I wish all the best Christmas season they can have.

I’m Baaaack!

Hello again,

First off, I hope everyone enjoyed a full stomach on Thanksgiving (I did). This upcoming week is known as finals week, and thusly I will not likely be posting until the 11th of December. My dear Dallas Cowboys are in first place, and the Longhorns are playing for the Big 12 Championship this Sat. If all goes well, I should be able to express my joy and happiness over the results when I am less hard pressed for free time.

Mark Davis!

Ok, so today’s speaker in poli sci was a radio talk show host. Mr. Mark Davis, a compatriot of Rush Limbaugh’s, spoke on many of the controversial subjects concerning the Republican Party today. I really liked his thoughts, and he was personable and approachable. I wish his show was broadcast in NH!

A Day in the Life of….

Posted in Daily Post with tags , on November 19, 2009 by acesouthpaw8

The following is from an email I recently received:

Day 683 of my captivity: My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the floor.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. The audacity! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded! The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe for now………….

Blown Away!!!

If you haven’t already, watch one of the History channel’s documentaries on the Third Reich. They are so detailed, and some of the information given is mind blowing. It chills my blood to see some of the footage they show.

On another note, USA Network’s White Collar is the best show on TV I’ve seen in years.

As for my injury, it’s healing very slowly, but I’m confident that I will be fully recovered by Thanksgiving Day.

Don’t Play Through the Pain

Posted in Daily Post with tags on November 11, 2009 by acesouthpaw8

Yea, so I hurt myself playing football yesterday, played through it, and then went to the ER for treatment on a seperated AC joint (the Sam Bradford injury). Hurts a lot, so I’ve got some heavy painkillers for that, but man, it is hard to function w/o an arm!!!

Spring Classes

Posted in Daily Post with tags , , on November 10, 2009 by acesouthpaw8

I am officially registered for spring semester! Yay!!! My classes are:

World Civilizations I & II

Elementary Statistics

US Gov’t

Geology

The History of the US: Revolutionary War to Constitution

Whether or not I drop one of my histories has yet to be determined. As of now, I am taking 19 hours of classes this spring. Too much? We shall see……

On another note, I just scored an 88% on my 4th math test. This pretty much garuntees me a minimum of a B- in the class, although I forsee a much higher final grade due to the last test being on matrices. All is well in college, let’s hope it stays so. GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!
